Ekin Spotter Featured in Malay Mail’s Coverage of Malaysia’s New Point‑to‑Point Speed Enforcement Pilot

We’re proud to announce that Ekin Spotter, one of our innovative traffic enforcement solutions, has been highlighted in a recent article by Malay Mail titled “Speeding no more: What to know about the new point-to-point system pilot testing starting in June”.

The article, published on April 3, 2025, discusses Malaysia’s upcoming pilot project for a point-to-point speed enforcement system, to be implemented along stretches of the KL–Karak Expressway and North–South Expressway.

Quoting directly from the article:

The camera used is called the Ekin Spotter, a compact surveillance device with a modular design that enables 360-degree video capture and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).”

It continues:

“According to a source from the Home Ministry, the Ekin Spotter camera is capable of tracking vehicles going as fast as 320km/h, and it is precise enough to detect which specific lane a car is using.”

These capabilities are essential for the new system’s mission: enforcing speed limits by calculating a vehicle’s average speed between two points, rather than just its speed at a single location. The article explains:

“Under this method, a vehicle’s average speed is calculated by measuring the time taken to travel from one point to another, giving a more accurate reading of whether someone was speeding.”

Why Ekin Spotter Is at the Forefront

  • Modular and scalable: “Compact surveillance device with a modular design” — adaptable to a wide range of environments.
  • Ultra-fast tracking: Tracks speeds “as fast as 320km/h”.
  • Lane-level accuracy: Offers “precise enough to detect which specific lane a car is using”.
  • Supports fairer enforcement: Helps close enforcement gaps from traditional camera setups.
